Fusion Collection - Frequently Asked Questions

The following frequently asked questions (FAQs) may answer some of the most common issues you have about the Lorex Fusion Collection.

What is Fusion Collection?

Fusion Collection is a group of devices designed to communicate with each other in a secure environment we call the Internet of Things (IoT). In this ecosystem, we can bring a fully wired security system and an assortment of wireless devices, along with sensors, to work together for you.

At the heart of these connected devices is the Lorex Home app. The app is the software that collects all compatible IoT devices in one place for your convenience, so you can access these devices right at your fingertips anytime, anywhere without having to use multiple applications.

At Lorex, we recognize that connected devices follow wherever you go, so we have invested resources to protect your security and privacy.

What products are part of the Fusion Collection?

Part of the Fusion Collection are three recorders (N841, N842, and N861) and five Wi-Fi cameras (W281AA, W261ASC, W261AQC, V261LCD, and LNWDB1).

All five Wi-Fi cameras are compatible with N841, N842, and N861 recorders.

IMPORTANT: Your recorder must be updated to the latest firmware version for it to work with the Wi-Fi cameras. For the N841 recorder, the latest firmware is version 25. For the N861 recorder, the latest firmware is version 6.

N842 is already equipped with the latest firmware.

Compatibility

How many Wi-Fi cameras can I add to my recorder?

If your recorder has available channels, then you can add up to 2 wireless devices to this recorder from any of the following Wi-Fi standalone cameras.

NOTE: You can only pair Wi-Fi cameras to your recorder if it has available channels (e.g., if you have an 8-channel recorder with already 8 IP cameras connected to it, then you will not be able to pair anymore Wi-Fi cameras to your recorder).

How can I add a Wi-Fi camera to my recorder?

We created a video tutorial and an article on adding a Wi-Fi camera to the recorder:

  1. Adding a Wi-Fi camera to your recorder via Lorex Cloud Client. See it here.
  2. Adding a Wi-Fi camera to your recorder via the recorder. See it here.

How far can the wireless cameras be from the recorder?

The most important factor to consider in camera placement is the distance between your camera and router. Please make sure your camera is in range to your router and has a dirent line of sight with minimal obstructions.

If your camera is not getting enough coverage, we highly recommend getting a Wi-Fi/router extender.

How can I access the Person and/or Vehicle detection recordings?

Although recorders are equipped with Person and Vehicle detection settings, unfortunately they do not tag or label a recording "person" or "vehicle."

If you wish to access recordings that are specific to person and/or vehicle, we recommend going to the Lorex Home app to access these recordings. On the app, you can streamline your search to look only for "person" and/or "vehicle" only recordings.

Where is my video footage being stored?

Your Wi-Fi camera has a dedicated local storage and comes pre-installed with a 16GB MicroSD card. If you have successfully connected the camera to your recorder, your video footage will be stored both in the camera and the recorder.

However, it is important to understand that recordings on the camera are limited due to the size of its onboard storage (16GB), while recordings on the recorder are extensive (3TB to 10TB).

How Active Deterrence works on the recorder and the app?

Active Deterrence on the recorder and the Lorex Home app has the same purpose and function with minimal differences in features.

Unique Features

For example, Siren activation is only available on the Lorex Home app. So, if you want to use this feature on a compatible camera, you will have to activate it on the app.

On the other hand, Strobe Light activation is only available on the recorder and must be activated on the recorder if you want to use this feature on a compatible.

Shared Features

All other Active Deterrence features (Person and Vehicle detections, Area/Motion Zones, Schedule, Warning Light) are found in both the recorder and the app.

Behavior: One Overrides the Other

However, it is essential to remember that in the shared features, one can override the other. For example, if you have disabled the Warning Light on the app, it will also be disabled on the recorder even if it was previously enabled.

Why do I have to manually set up my Wi-Fi camera in the Lorex Home app as well as in the recorder?

Before you can connect your Wi-Fi camera to your recorder, you must connect it first to the Lorex Home app. Once you have successfully added your camera to the Lorex Home app, your recorder will automatically detect its presence in your network, and only then can you add it to your recorder.

Adding your Wi-Fi camera to the recorder is a manual process, as you will have to enter the camera password you created when you set up the camera in the Lorex Home app.

During all this process, please make sure your camera and recorder are in the same network.
