USB Device: Not detected

You can connect a USB mouse, USB flash drive, or an external USB hard disk drive (HDD) to the USB port(s) on your DVR / NVR. If the DVR / NVR is not detecting the USB device, ensure you have installed the latest firmware updates for the DVR / NVR. Refer to your user manual for details on how to upgrade firmware. If the DVR / NVR is running the latest firmware and is still not detecting your USB device, try the troubleshooting steps below.

USB Mouse:

  • Wireless mice require special drivers and are currently not supported on the DVR / NVR systems.
  • If you connected a USB mouse and it is not recognized, restart the DVR / NVR with the mouse plugged in.
  • Use a different USB port on the DVR / NVR.

USB Flash Drive:

  • If you connected an USB flash drive and it is not recognized, restart the DVR / NVR with the USB flash drive plugged in.

  • Use a different USB port on the DVR / NVR.

  • Format the USB flash drive on your computer. After formatting the drive, insert it into the DVR / NVR.

    REQUIREMENT: Back up data before formatting. Formatting the USB flash drive will erase all data.

  • The USB flash drive may be malfunctioning. Use a new USB flash drive with the DVR / NVR system.

USB Hard Disk Drive:

  • If you connected a USB hard disk drive and it is not recognized, restart the DVR / NVR with the USB hard disk drive plugged in.
  • Use a different USB port on the DVR / NVR.
  • If your USB hard disk drive uses external power, check the power source and connection.
  • Refer your product specifications sheet or user manual to ensure the USB hard disk drive storage capacity does not exceed storage capacity limits of the DVR / NVR. Click here for downloads and documentation for your product.
