- Download the Lorex App from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

Devices
The Devices section in the Lorex App, accessible from the Home tab (default view upon opening the app), allows you to manage, control, and customize all Lorex devices linked to your account. Here's how to use it:
Viewing and Accessing Devices
- All connected devices, including your smart lightbulb camera, will appear here with a thumbnail showing the device's live view.
- The device name, such as "Garage," is displayed above the smart lightbulb camera's thumbnail.
Quick Action Buttons

Play: Open the camera's live view.

/ Privacy Mode: Instantly tilt the camera to cover the lens, stopping all recording for added privacy. Tap again to disable Privacy Mode.

/ Snooze Alerts: Access snooze options and temporarily disable notifications. Choose from durations such as 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, All day, or Turn Off Alerts.

/ Light: Tap to turn the light On/Off. Adjust the brightness using the slider below the Light button.

Device Settings: Configure individual device settings.
Grouping Smart Lightbulb Cameras
If you have multiple smart lightbulb cameras, you can group them to control shared settings easily.
⚠ Note: Group settings allow you to control shared features like Light Settings and Privacy Mode for all grouped devices, overriding their individual settings for these features. For advanced customization, such as motion detection or notifications, use the individual device settings.
How to Create a Group
- Tap above the smart lightbulb camera's live view thumbnail.
- Select the smart lightbulb cameras you want to group together.
- Name the group, such as "Home."
- Tap Create to finalize the grouping.
Group Layout Options
After grouping, use the layout button to change how devices are displayed:
- Scroll View: Thumbnails side-by-side with horizontal scrolling.
- Grid View: Devices displayed in a grid format.
- Stacked View: Devices listed vertically, one above another.
Grouped Device Features (Synced Controls)
Tap the Group Device Settings button for the group to manage shared settings that apply to all devices in the group simultaneously:
- Light: Turn lights on/off and adjust brightness with the slider.
- Privacy Mode: Enable or disable privacy mode for all grouped devices.
- Group Name: Rename the group if needed.
- Devices:
- View all devices in the group.
- Tap the Edit button to remove a device from the group or +Add Device to add one.
- Tap a device name to access its individual settings menu for more detailed configuration.
- Light Settings: Configure group light activation, scheduling, and vacation mode. For detailed instructions, refer to the Lightbulb Settings.
Live View
The Live View gives you real-time access to your smart lightbulb camera’s video feed, along with controls for snapshots, recording, and lighting.
How to open Live View:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap your smart lightbulb camera to start live viewing.
Features in Live View
Once in Live View, you’ll see:
- Live Video Feed: Watch the camera’s real-time footage.
- Toolbar: Pause, change layouts, adjust video quality, toggle audio, or go fullscreen.
- Quick Action Buttons: Capture snapshots, record video, turn on/off the light, or activate privacy mode.
Toolbar
The Live View Toolbar provides quick access to essential controls for managing your smart lightbulb camera's video feed. Here’s a breakdown of each button:
- Pause/Play: Pause or resume the live video feed.
- Camera Layout: Switch between different camera layouts. For single-camera setups, it defaults to single-camera mode.
- Video Quality (SD): Adjust the video quality to 2K, 1080P, 720P, SD (Standard Definition), and Auto for optimized performance.
- Mute/Unmute: Turn the audio on or off.
- Fullscreen: Expand the live view to full screen for a better viewing experience.
View Events & Timeline
The View Events tab displays a list of all motion-detected recordings saved by your camera. Tap this tab to see a detailed list of events, filter by date using the calendar, and replay or save any recording instantly. This view is perfect for quickly finding specific events.
The Timeline tab organizes recordings in a scrollable, chronological format, showing when each event occurred. Simply scroll through the timeline to locate and replay events from a specific time. It’s great for reviewing footage with a time-focused perspective.

Quick Action Buttons
These buttons let you interact with your smart lightbulb camera in real time.
Located above the live view:

[] Shared Users: Grant access to others and control their permissions. (Requires the person to have a Lorex app account.)

[] Device Settings: Access the camera’s settings menu.
Located below the live view:

Snapshot: Capture a quick image of the live view.

Record Video: Manually start and stop video recording.

Talk: Use the camera’s speaker to talk to whoever is in front of it.

Siren: Activate the siren for immediate attention. Tap again to stop, or let it turn off automatically after 10 seconds.

Lightbulb: Turn the camera’s light on or off. Adjust the brightness using the slider below the button.

Quick Response: Send a pre-recorded message by selecting one from the available list.

Privacy Mode: Instantly tilt the camera to cover the lens and stop all recording for added privacy.
Using Pan & Tilt Controls and Setting Camera Presets
Easily control the camera’s view and save preset positions for quick access.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the live view of your smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap the Pan & Tilt button to access the controls.
- Use the on-screen arrows to tilt up/down or pan left/right.
To Set a Preset:
- Move the camera to the desired view.
- Tap the Add button , name your preset, and save it.
- Access saved views from the Presets tab. Tap a preset to instantly move the camera to that position.
- To make changes to saved presets, tap the Edit button .
Device Settings
The Device Settings menu allows you to manage and customize your smart lightbulb camera. Access features like lighting control, motion detection zones, sound settings, and more.
How to access Device Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
Device Info
The Device Info section provides key details about your smart lightbulb camera and allows you to customize settings for a more personalized experience.
How to Access Device Info:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Device Info.
Options:
- Device Photo: Customize the photo that appears for your camera in the app.
- -- Auto Snapshot: Automatically updates to the most recent live view image.
- -- Custom: Upload a photo or take one to use as a permanent image.
- Device Name: Update the camera name used for voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant.
- Channel Name: Edit the name displayed on the bottom-right corner of the live view.
- Device Model: Displays your camera’s model number.
- Device ID: Shows the unique ID for your device.
- MAC Address: Displays your camera’s MAC address, which uniquely identifies the device on your network.
- IP Address: Displays your camera’s IP address for network identification.
- Device Storage: Monitor how much storage is used and how much is available.
- Device Label: View your device’s model, ID, and a QR code. Save the QR code as an image for easy access later.
- Device Password: Update your device password securely. Enter the old password, create a new one, and tap Save. (This is separate from your Lorex App account password.)
Firmware
The Firmware section ensures your smart lightbulb camera stays updated with the latest features, security enhancements, and performance improvements.
When a firmware update is available:
- A yellow Firmware button will appear on your camera in the Devices screen. Tap it to go directly to the firmware settings.
- A red dot will appear next to Firmware in Device Settings.
How to Check and Update Firmware:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Firmware.
- View the following:
- Current Version: Displays the firmware currently installed on your device.
- Latest Version: Shows the newest firmware available for your device.
- Tap Update to download and install the update.
Notifications
Control how and when you receive alerts to stay informed without unnecessary interruptions.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Notifications.
Options:
- Alert Notifications: Toggle the switch / to enable or disable alerts.
- Notification Schedule: Set specific times during the day to receive alerts, then tap Save.
- Alert and Event Thumbnails: Include thumbnail images with notifications for a quick preview.
- Offline Notifications: Enable alerts when your camera goes offline.
Motion Detection Settings
Set up your smart lightbulb camera to detect and track motion, and customize specific areas or types of movement to monitor.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Motion Detection Settings.
Options:
- Motion Detection: Toggle the switch / to enable or disable motion detection.
- Person and Vehicle Detection: Enable specific detection types to focus on people or vehicles.
- Auto-Tracking: Enable the camera to automatically follow moving objects.
- Motion Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level from 1 (less) to 5 (more). Higher levels detect smaller movements but may result in more notifications.
Motion Zones
Use Motion Zones to focus on specific areas within the camera’s view for motion detection. Create zones for:
- General Motion
- Person Detection
- Vehicle Detection
How to Create Motion Zones
General Motion Zone
- Use the grid overlay to select areas where motion will be detected.
- Tap grid squares to activate (blue) or deactivate (unselected).
Zone Management Tools:
- Erase: Remove specific grid boxes.
- Invert: Switch between selected and unselected areas.
- Clear: Reset the entire grid.
Person and Vehicle Motion Zones
- Tap the corner anchors of the motion zone box to resize or move it as needed.
- Adjust the zone to focus on specific areas for person or vehicle detection.
Zone Management Tools:
- Clear: Remove all zones.
- Reset: Return to default zone settings.
- Add: Create an additional motion zone.
- Delete: Remove a specific motion zone.
Sound Detection Settings
The Sound Detection Settings lets you control how easily the camera detects sound.
How to Access Sound Detection:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Sound Detection Settings.
Options:
- Sound Detection: Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Sound Detection.
- Sound Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level from 50dB to 90dB. Lower sensitivity detects louder noises only and higher sensitivity detects quieter sounds but may send more notifications.
- Sound-Activated Panning: Enable this option for the camera to automatically follow the direction of detected sounds.
Video Settings
The Video Settings provide options to optimize video clarity and adjust resolution for your camera feed.
How to Access Video Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Video Settings.
Options
- HDR (High Dynamic Range): Toggle the switch / to enable or disable HDR to enhance video clarity in areas with extreme brightness or darkness.
- Video Quality: Adjust the recording quality to: High (2K), Medium (1080P), Low (720P).
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Sound Settings
The Sound Settings allow you to adjust the speaker and microphone volume for clear two-way communication (2-Way Talk).
How to Access Sound Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Sound Settings.
Options: Speaker Volume: Adjust the speaker’s volume from 0 (low) to 5 (high).
- Microphone Volume: Adjust the microphone’s sensitivity from 0 (low) to 5 (high).
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Device Storage
The Device Storage settings help you manage the microSD card on your smart lightbulb camera.
How to View Storage Usage
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Device Storage.
Options:
- View how much storage is used versus how much is available.
- If the storage is full:
- Tap the full > arrow.
- Select Formatting Storage to erase all data and free up space for new recordings.
⚠ Note: Formatting the storage will delete all existing footage. Be sure to save any important videos elsewhere before formatting.
Local Recording Settings
The Local Recording Settings let you manage how videos are saved to your smart lightbulb camera’s microSD card. Customize recording quality, enable continuous recording, or set up a schedule to suit your needs.
How to Access Local Recording Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Local Recording Settings.
Options:
- Local Recording: Enabled by default, this saves videos to the camera's microSD card.
- Stream Setting: Choose between High Definition or Standard Definition, then tap Save.
- Continuous Recording: Enable this setting to record 24/7. If you prefer specific times, set a custom Recording Schedule.
How to Set the Recording Schedule
- Tap the blue line for the day you want to edit.
- Enter the desired recording period.
- To add multiple time slots for the same day, tap +Add Period.
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Lightbulb Settings
The Lightbulb Settings allow you to control when and how the light activates, set custom schedules, and enable vacation mode for added security.
How to Access Lightbulb Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Light Settings.
Light Activation
Customize how the light turns on for person or vehicle detection, including brightness, duration, and scheduling.
- Tap Light Activation.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Person Detection or Vehicle Detection.
- Customize the following settings:
- Light Mode: Choose between Solid or Flashing, then tap Save.
- Light Brightness: Use the slider to adjust brightness (left for low, right for high).
- Remain on for: Set how long the light stays on, from 10 seconds to 30 minutes, or choose Auto or Stay On.
- Schedule: Set specific times for the light to activate.
- Tap Save to apply.
Light Schedule
Set the smart lightbulb to turn on or off automatically at specific times or days.
How to Set a Light Schedule:
- Tap Light Schedule.
- Tap +Add New Schedule and customize the following settings:
- Action: Select whether the light should Turn On or Turn Off.
- Fade Duration: Choose between Instant or a gradual fade from 1 and 60 minutes.
- Time: Set the schedule for Sunrise, Sunset, or a Specific Time/Date.
- Repeat Every: Select the days of the week the schedule should apply. Selected days are highlighted in blue.
- Tap Save to confirm and activate the schedule.
How to Delete a Schedule: To remove a schedule, swipe left on it and tap Delete.
Sunset and Sunrise Schedule
Automatically adjust your lighting schedule to align with the natural light in your area.
- How It Works: The light turns on at sunset and off at sunrise, with times updating daily based on your camera’s location. The location is determined during setup, and the times change slightly each day.
- Example:
- If sunset is at 6:30 PM, the light turns on at 6:30 PM.
- If sunrise is at 6:00 AM, the light turns off at 6:00 AM.
Fade In/Out Effect
The Fade In/Out Effect creates a smooth transition by gradually increasing or decreasing the brightness of the light.

Fade In: If your schedule is set to turn the light on at 7:00 PM with a 10-minute fade-in, the light will:

-- Start at minimal brightness at 6:50 PM.

-- Gradually reach 100% brightness by 7:00 PM.

Fade Out: If your schedule is set to turn off the light at 10:00 PM with a 10-minute fade-out, the light will:

-- Begin dimming from 100% brightness at 9:50 PM.
-
-- Gradually turn off completely by 10:00 PM.
Vacation Mode
Enable Vacation Mode to automatically turn the lightbulb on and off while you're away, giving the appearance that someone is home.
- Tap Vacation Mode.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Vacation Mode.
- Set the start and end dates using the calendar, then tap Save.
- To create custom schedules for vacation dates, tap +Add New Vacation Schedule and configure the same settings as Light Schedule.
- To remove vacation dates, tap Clear.
⚠ Note: When Vacation Mode is turned on, a message will appear in the Live View stating that any lighting settings configured prior to Vacation Mode will be disabled.
Automatic Siren Settings
The Siren Settings allow you to enable automatic siren activation for person or vehicle detection and customize how often a response message is played.
How to Access the Siren Settings:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Siren Settings.
Options:
- Person Detection/Vehicle Detection: Toggle the switch / to enable or disable automatic siren activation when a person or vehicle is detected.
- Response Message: Select a message that will play when the siren is triggered.
- Quick Responses Cycle: Choose how many times the message repeats, from 1 to 5 cycles.
- Tap Save to apply changes.
How to Set a Siren Schedule
- Tap the blue line for the day you want to edit.
- Customize the following:
- Repeat: Select which weekdays to apply the schedule.
- Time: Set the time period for the siren to activate.
- +Add New Schedule: Add multiple time periods for the same day.
- Tap Save to apply changes.
Auto Night Vision
The Auto Night Vision feature ensures clear recording in low-light conditions by automatically switching the camera to black-and-white mode when necessary.
How to Enable/Disable Auto Night Vision:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Auto Night Vision.
⚠ Note: If disabled, the camera will remain in color mode, which may reduce visibility in low light.
Quick Responses
The Quick Responses feature lets you use pre-recorded or custom messages to communicate with visitors through your camera.
How to Access Quick Responses:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Quick Responses.
- Preview existing pre-recorded messages or tap the [+] icon to create a new one.
To Create a Custom Message
- Press and hold the record button to record your message, then release to stop.
- Tap the play button to listen or the delete button to re-record.
- When satisfied, tap Next.
- Name your message and tap Save.
- If you want your message to repeat, tap Quick Responses Cycle. Select the desired number of cycles (1–5) and tap Save.
Privacy Mode
Privacy Mode ensures your camera’s lens is completely covered and stops all video recording, giving you full privacy until the mode is disabled.
How to Enable or Disable Privacy Mode:
- From the Devices screen:
- Tap the Privacy Mode toggle in the bottom-right corner of the device tile.
- From the Live View screen:
- Tap the Privacy Mode button.
- From Device Settings:
- Go to Device Settings and toggle the switch / to enable or disable Privacy Mode.
Audio Recording
Audio Recording allows your camera to capture sound. However, recording audio may be restricted in some areas. Be sure to check local laws before enabling this feature.
How to Enable or Disable Audio Recording:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Audio Recording.
Shared Users
The Shared Users feature lets you share access to your smart lightbulb camera while controlling the permissions of other users. The person must have a Lorex app account to accept your invitation.
How to Add a Shared User:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap your lightbulb camera to open Live View.
- Tap the Shared Users button [].
(Alternatively, access this feature from Device Settings.)
- Tap Add Shared User.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to share access with.
- Set their permissions, then tap Confirm.
The user will receive an email invitation to accept and gain access to your camera.
Wireless Network
Changing the wireless network allows you to reconnect your camera to a new Wi-Fi network if needed.
How to Change the Wireless Network:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Wireless Network.
- Choose a network from the list, enter the password, and tap Save.
Status Indicator
The Status Indicator, located next to the camera lens, displays the current state of your smart lightbulb camera, such as power status, network connectivity, or readiness to pair with the app. You can enable or disable the Status Indicator through the Lorex App.
How to Turn the Status Indicator On or Off:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable the Status LED.
Image Rotation
The Image Rotation feature ensures that your camera's video feed displays correctly, whether the camera is mounted on a wall or ceiling. Use this feature to flip the image 180° if needed.
How to Rotate the Image:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Image Rotation. Turning it on flips the image 180°.
Time Zone
The Time Zone setting ensures that timestamps on your videos and live views match your local time. It’s crucial for accurate monitoring and reviewing of events.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Tap Time Zone and select your local time zone from the list.
- If applicable, toggle the switch / to enable or disable Daylight Savings Time, and set the start and end dates if necessary.
- Tap Date Format to adjust how the date appears on your footage.
Device Log
The Device Log keeps a record of actions performed on your smart lightbulb camera, such as sharing access, removing the device, or powering it off. By default, this feature is disabled but can be enabled to monitor activity.
How to Enable or Disable the Device Log:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Toggle the switch / to enable or disable Device Log.
How to View the Device Log:
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the Events button.
- Select the Device Log tab.
The log provides details such as:
- Actions performed (e.g., sharing, deletion).
- Date and time of each action.
- User who performed the action.
- Device model and ID.
Reboot Device
Rebooting your smart lightbulb camera restarts the device without affecting its settings. Use this feature to resolve minor issues like connectivity problems.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Scroll down and select Reboot Device. Confirm to restart the camera.
Remove Device
Removing your smart lightbulb camera disconnects it from your account. This is useful when transferring ownership or no longer using the device.
- Open the Lorex App.
- Tap the device settings button [] next to the smart lightbulb camera.
- Scroll down and select Remove Device. Confirm to finalize the removal.
