This article answers frequently asked questions about your AJLP-1W Plastic Junction Box.
Can I mount my camera on my junction box?
No, your junction box must be mounted above, below, or beside your junction box. But, your camera’s cable can exit the junction box from any of its faces.
What cameras are compatible with my junction box.
Since this junction box does not attach directly to a camera, it is compatible with all Lorex cameras.
How do I create a hole in the junction box?
Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the knockout slot and chisel around the edge to remove it; if burrs remain, use a deburring tool (not included) to smooth the edges and repeat for all necessary slots.
Note: Please complete this process on a flat surface and chisel the knockout slot away from your body. This process may take several minutes.

What tools do I need to install my junction box?
To install your junction box, you will need a drill, and a need a Flat head screwdriver. You may need a Phillips screwdriver to install your camera.
Where can I install the junction box?
The outdoor junction box can be installed at any location that can support 3× total weight of the outdoor junction box and the attached camera. However the following criteria are recommended for best performance:
Location Selection:
- Install the camera at a height that provides a broad and unobstructed view of the area you want to monitor.
- Ensure the location and angle allows the camera to cover all necessary areas without any blind spots.
- Choose a location that is accessible for maintenance and adjustments but secure enough to prevent tampering.
- Ensure proximity to a power source if the camera is not PoE.
Mounting Surface:
- Determine whether the camera will be mounted on a wall or ceiling. Junction boxes are compatible with both types of mounts.
- Ensure the mounting surface is sturdy and capable of supporting the weight of the camera and junction box. Concrete, brick, or solid wood are ideal.
Other recommendations:
- Place the camera close to your Wi-Fi router as possible.
- Reduce the number of obstructive materials between the camera and the router or access point.

You can use a cable with a thickness of up to 0.15 inches or 3.8 mm.
