Lorex App - Configuring Motion Detection Settings

The following article provides Lorex App instructions for configuring your camera's motion detection settings.

Note: Motion Detection settings varies per camera model.

Enable/disable Motion Detection

1. Tap above your camera's thumbnail.
2. Tap Motion Detection Settings.
3. Tap to enable Motion Detection. Tap again to disable.

Enable/disable Smart Detection

Smart detection distinguishes movement between different objects while providing separate alerts for them. Below are a list of different smart motion detections available.

Note: Smart Detection settings varies per camera model.

1. Tap above the camera's thumbnail.
2. Tap Motion Detection Settings.
3. Tap to enable Motion Detection.
4. Tap Smart Detection Settings.
5. Tap to enable the type of smart motion detection you want to use:

• Person Detection: Enable/disable person detection. Turning on Person Detection will record video and only send notifications when a person is detected.

• Vehicle Detection: Enable/disable vehicle detection. Turning on Vehicle Detection will record video and only send notifications when a vehicle is detected.

• Animal Detection: Enable/disable animal detection. Turning on Animal Detection will record video and only send notifications when an animal is detected.

• Package Detection: Enable/disable package detection. Turning on Package Detection will record video and only send notifications when a package is detected.

• Package Removed Detection: Enable/disable package removed detection. Turning on Package Removed Detection will record video and only send notifications when a package is detected as removed.

• Outdoor Mode: Enable/disable outdoor mode. Turning on Outdoor Mode will enable vehicle detection.

• Smart Detection Cool Down: This feature allows your Lorex device to snooze up to maximum 30 seconds after initial motion is detected. You will not be notified of any additional smart detection notifications until after the specified cool down time is completed.

• Smart Sensitivity: Adjust the level of Smart Sensitivity (Low, Medium, or High) of your Lorex device according to your preference. The higher the sensitivity level, the less motion is required to trigger an event. Higher sensitivity will result in increased notifications.

Adjust Motion Sensitivity

You can adjust the level of Motion Sensitivity of your Lorex device according to your preference. The higher the sensitivity level, the less motion is required to trigger an event.

Note: Higher sensitivity will result in increased notifications.

1. Tap above the camera's thumbnail.
2. Tap Motion Detection Settings.
3. Tap to enable Motion Detection.
4. Tap Motion Sensitivity.
5. Tap and select the level of Motion Sensitivity, then tap Save.

Configure Motion Zones™

Motion Zone™ allows you to customize your device’s motion detection region. Areas of the camera image that trigger unwanted motion events can be ignored, such as a busy sidewalk or trees blowing in the wind.

Note: Motion Zones™ settings varies per camera model.

1. Tap above your camera's thumbnail.
2. Tap Motion Detection Settings.
3. Tap Motion Zones™.
4. Tap the Motion Zones™ to set up the detection area.

Customize General Motion Zone

This setting can only detect motion in the specified area. By default, the entire area has a blue overlay, meaning that a motion event happening anywhere on the screen will trigger an event.

1. Tap to remove the blue overlay from the entire image.
2. Tap and drag over the area where you want motion detection enabled.

Note: The deselected area will grey out and the selected area will be highlighted in blue.

3. (Optional) Tap to exclude any area from the Motion Zones™.
4. (Optional) Tap switch the Motion Zones™ to the unselected area.
5. Tap Save.

Customize Smart Detection Motion Zones (person, animal, vehicle, package, etc.)

This setting can only detect motion from smart detection in the specified area. By default, the entire area has a blue overlay, meaning that a motion event happening anywhere on the screen will trigger an event.

1. Tap and drag the rectangular corners over the area where you want the smart detection enabled.

Note: The deselected area will grey out and the selected area will be highlighted in blue.

2. (Optional) Tap to switch the Motion Zones™ to the unselected area.
3. Tap Save.
