What is a Wi-Fi Chimebox, and how does it work?

The Lorex Wi-Fi Chimebox is a device that wirelessly connects to a compatible Lorex video doorbell. When someone presses the doorbell, it triggers the Chimebox to sound an audible alert inside the house.


What are the benefits of adding the Lorex Wi-Fi Chimebox?

The Lorex Wi-Fi Chimebox enhances the overall functionality and convenience of your home security system. Here are some of the reasons why someone might want to buy such a device:

Can I add more than one video doorbell to the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Yes, there is no limit for how many video doorbells you can add to the Wi-Fi Chimebox.


Can you connect one video doorbell to multiple Wi-Fi Chimeboxes?

Yes, your video doorbell can connect to multiple Wi-Fi Chimeboxes.


Can I set a different ringtone for each video doorbell linked to the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Yes, you can assign a different ringtone to each video doorbell, making it easy to identify which one is ringing.


Can I add my own ringtones?

You can only use the pre-set ringtones provided in the Lorex app.


Which Lorex video doorbells are compatible with the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

The Wi-Fi Chimebox is designed to work with a variety of compatible Lorex video doorbells. Please refer to the Compatibility Chart for a list of compatible devices.


Does my device support WPA2 or WPA3?

Your device supports Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2) which is the industry standard security protocol for Wi-Fi networks. WPA2 offers security against unauthorized access and data interception and is supported by most Wi-Fi routers including those that support both WPA2 and WPA3. It employs Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), an encryption mechanism, which secures communication between your camera and Wi-Fi network to keep transmitted data confidential. Setup

How is the Wi-Fi Chimebox powered? Does it use batteries, or does it need to be plugged in?

The Wi-Fi Chimebox needs to be plugged into an outlet for power, and then connected to the Lorex app.


Where should I place the Wi-Fi Chimebox and how do I install it?

To ensure optimal performance, plug the Wi-Fi Chimebox into a power outlet with a strong Wi-Fi signal. Follow the instructions in the Quick Start Guide for your region to easily set it up.


What should I do if the video doorbell is not powering on?

When setting up the video doorbell in the Lorex app, select the Wi-Fi Chimebox as the chime option. Do not select "Mechanical" or "Electronic" to avoid issues with powering on the doorbell.

Where can I download the Lorex app?

Download the Lorex app from the App Store or Google Play Store.


How do I customize the video doorbell ringtone?

Customize the ringtone using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Linked Devices.
  3. Tap Alert Tone under Doorbell Ring, choose a ringtone from the list, and tap Save.

Note: Doorbell Ring must be enabled for the Alert Tone option to be available.

  1. Tap Save at the top right of the screen.

How do I decrease the volume of the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Adjust the volume using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Chime Volume.
  3. Tap your preferred Chime Volume setting, then tap Save.

How do I temporarily silence the Wi-Fi Chimebox or disable alerts?

Set a snooze schedule or turn alerts on/off using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Snooze Settings.
  3. Tap the duration for the snooze or to turn alerts on/off, then tap Save.

How do I enable or disable Lorex video doorbells that are linked to the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Enable or disable linked devices using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Linked Devices.
  3. Tap to enable or to disable devices.

How can I enable audible motion detection alerts from the video doorbell on the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Enable audible motion detection alerts using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Linked Devices.
  3. Tap to enable Motion.

Note: The linked video doorbell must be enabled for the Motion option to be available.


How do I customize the video doorbell's motion detection ringtone?

Customize the ringtone using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Linked Devices.
  3. Tap Alert Tone under Motion, choose a ringtone from the list, and tap Save.

Note: Motion must be enabled for the Alert Tone option to be available.

How can I rename the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Change the name using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Device Info and then Device Name.
  3. Enter the new name and tap Save.

How do I change the Wi-Fi Chimebox password in the Lorex app?

Modify the password using the Lorex app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Wi-Fi Chimebox thumbnail.
  2. Tap Device Info and Device Password.
  3. Enter the current and new passwords, then tap Save.

How do I disable the Status LED for the Wi-Fi Chimebox?

Disable the Status LED using the Lorex app:

How do I reboot the Wi-Fi Chimebox?
