FLIR FX Camera: Firmware update troubleshooting

If needed, you will be prompted to updated firmware automatically when you are connected to WiFi with your FLIR FX or FLIR Secure app. If you are encountering problems with certain features of your app, it may be related to problems with your firmware version. You can resolve this by checking your firmware version and manually updating firmware.

To check your firmware version:

  1. Launch the FLIR FX or FLIR Secure app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Access the camera Live View.
  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon).
  4. Scroll down to Versions. The firmware version is listed under Info on smartphones, and on the bottom-left below Resolution on tablets.
  5. Record your FLIR FX camera version number for reference.

You are now ready to perform a manual update of your firmware version.

To manually update the firmware version:

  1. Attach the camera to a power source.
  2. Ensure the camera has a strong and stable WiFi connection.
  3. Restart the FLIR FX or FLIR Secure app. Accept the prompt requesting approval for the update.
  4. Check the camera’s firmware version in the app by comparing it to the version your recorded.

If the firmware version number has changed, you have successfully updated your firmware. If the firmware version has not changed you may have already had the most up to date firmware. However, you could still be encountering problems related to your microSD card conflicting with app functionality and will need to format your microSD card.

CAUTION: Formatting the microSD card will remove all recorded video. If necessary, back up recorded videos before formatting the microSD card.

To format the microSD card:

  1. Launch the FLIR FX or FLIR Secure app on your smartphone or tablet.
  2. Access the camera Live View.
  3. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) on smartphones, or tap Settings > Configuration on tablets.
  4. Scroll down to SD card and tap the Trashcan icon (trashcan button).
  5. Restart the app. Accept the prompt requesting approval for the update.

TIP: If the firmware upgrade prompt does not appear, restart the camera.

If you continue to be prompted for the same automatic firmware upgrade, contact Technical Support for assistance with a manual upgrade.
