Lorex App - Too Many Notifications
You may find that your camera is triggering frequently and sending too many event notifications. Here are a few troubleshooting tips to help reduce false alerts.
Set scheduled notifications
In the Lorex app you can either enable or disable notifications and set a schedule for specific times.
- Launch the Lorex app and tap above the camera's thumbnail.
- Tap Notifications and adjust the settings as needed.

Enable/disable motion detection and smart motion detection
Enable/disable motion detection and enable/disable only the specific type of smart motion detection that you want to be alerted by. For example, if you're only interested in being alerted by people or packages dropped off, only enable those types of smart motion detection.
- Launch the Lorex app and tap above the camera's thumbnail.
- Tap Motion Detection Settings.
- Tap to enable Motion Detection.
- Tap Smart Detection Settings.
- Tap to enable the type of smart motion detection you want to use.
Note:
- If motion detection is disabled, general/person/vehicle/animal/package/package removed detection will automatically disable and you will not receive any motion detection notifications in the Lorex app.
- Only certain Lorex cameras have smart motion detection.
Create Motion Zones™
Motion Zones™ allows you to customize your camera’s motion detection region. By drawing your Motion Zones™ to exclude high-traffic areas like public sidewalks and roads, you can reduce the number of false alerts.
To set Motion Zones™
- Launch the Lorex app and tap above the camera's thumbnail.
- Tap Motion Detection Settings.
- Tap Motion Zones™.

Turn down Motion Sensitivity
In some cases, if the motion sensor’s sensitivity is set too high, your camera may produce excessive false alerts. To avoid this, you should lower the motion sensitivity level by standing in the Motion Zones™ and trying out the sensitivity level.
- Launch the Lorex app and tap above the camera's thumbnail.
- Tap Motion Detection Settings.
- Tap Motion Sensitivity, adjust the sensitivity level, and then Save.
Turn down Sound Sensitivity
In some cases, if the sound sensitivity is set too high, your camera may produce excessive false alerts. To avoid this, you should lower the sound sensitivity level by standing near your camera and trying out the sensitivity level.
- Launch the Lorex app and tap above the camera's thumbnail.
- Tap Sound Detection Settings.
- Tap Sound Sensitivity, adjust the sensitivity level, and then Save.
Enable Privacy Mode
If you plan to be outside in front of your camera for a prolonged time, enable Privacy Mode to disable recording. Just remember to turn Privacy Mode off once you go back inside.
- Launch the Lorex app.
- Tap your camera's thumbnail to start the live view.
- Tap Privacy Mode to disable recording.
Enable Home & Away™
The Lorex app can automatically use your location to manage your notifications when you are at home or away. The app will notify you when you are inside/outside of your set home perimeter.
To start using this feature, navigate to your mobile device settings and enable Location services for Lorex app.
